Ollaytantambo

At a sidewalk cafe in Ollaytantambo, I found you
sitting in the nascent summer sun.
Your broad shoulders framed the sunken doorway,
your neck bent over
your book like a lover –
At a sidewalk cafe in Ollaytantambo, I saw you
in the face of another man; my heart rattled
like an acorn hull
free on the wind.

  1. This is a wonderful poem Anne. Only worry is that last line, which is pretty ordinary ;)

  2. i enjoyed this poem. I don’t whether or not you were expecting to see him or whether you were looking for him wherever you went the emotional effect is the same. How many times have i had the same experience.
